The extension lead which is supplied with your bird box camera requires connecting to the camera.
The opposite end of your extension lead now simply requires attaching to your TV set or Video recorder. Most TV / Video recorders come with 3 RCA Phono sockets. Locate these on either your TV or Video. If you cannot find these then consult your TV/ Video manual. If neither your TV / Video has RCA Phono sockets then a Phono socket to Scart connector is required. These are easily available from most high street electrical retailers.
Finally connect your 12 volt DC mains power adapter to the one remaining red power jack on your extension lead. The black gender changer is provided for this purpose. Plug in your power adapter then select your Televisions AV channel. Consult your TV / Video manual to help you find your AV channel. You should have both picture and sound on your TV now.
To Remove or replace the roof of the Eshwood Bird Box Cam, simply unscrew the two roof retaining screws located on the front peak of the Bird Box Camera. To replace take the roof and insert the rear section into the roof retaining groove ensuring that the pre-drilled holes on the front section of the roof line up with the two existing screw holes. Finally replace the two roof retaining screws.

To
maximize your chance for successful occupation you should spend a little time considering the best location to site your bird box camera.
------------------=:O:=------------------
Ideally the entrance hole should be sited facing between North and South East and the box should be sited at least 2 metres above ground level. Also avoid if possible any low hanging structures immediately above the Bird Box Camera which could aid predators in attacking the nest.
The Bird Box Camera can be fastened to a tree (Aluminium nails cause least damage to a tree), fence or wall using the two fixing holes found at the top and bottom. However prior to securing your Bird Box Camera check not only that you have sufficient cable but also that its location allows sufficient day light to enter the roof. For example avoid fixing your Bird Box Cam directly under the eves of a house as the video does require ambient light to operate.
It will also be beneficial to avoid placing your Bird Box Cam close to other nest boxes.
Whilst you should be feeding your garden birds it is also important to keep your feeders well away from your nest box as feeding bird may discourage occupation of your nest box.
------------------=:O:=------------------
Unplug the extension cable from the underside of the Bird Box Cam when the nesting season is over. Unplug the three pin power supply adapter from your room socket when not using your Bird Box Cam.
Like any other cable, the extension cable can be damaged. Avoid kinking it trapping it between a door and the door frame and they certainly don’t like lawn mowers or pets that chew wires. The camera operates on 12 volts DC so they do not pose a safety risk.
